FAQs

Paediatric therapy, Ohip coverageDoes OHIP cover the cost of therapy sessions?
No.  The private therapeutic services provided by Butterfly are not covered through OHIP.  Payment will therefore be provided through extended health benefit plans, private pay, motor vehicle accident claims, or charitable funding sources.

Will my benefits/insurance cover the cost of therapy?
Insurance plans are all different.  Even the same insurer may have different plans depending on the employer.  Please contact your insurance company to determine coverage.

How do I know if I qualify for charitable funding?
There are links on the resource page for Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity and President’s Choice Children’s Charity.  Guidelines for financial assistance are outlined on each of these websites.

Can my insurance plan be billed directly?
No. Services must be paid for after each session at Butterfly.  We accept cash, cheque, debit, Visa, and MasterCard.  You will be provided with a receipt which can then be submitted to your insurance company.

What are your hours of operation?
We are making every effort to be flexible in meeting the needs of our clients.  We are open from 8:30am until 7:00pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 8:30am until 5:00pm on Thursday and Friday.  Occasional Saturday service is available, please call for information (905) 206-0300.

Do I need a Doctor’s referral?
No.  However, some insurance companies will require a doctor’s referral to cover the service.

What if I have to cancel a session?
Please give us as much notice as possible if a session needs to be rescheduled.   A missed appointment with no advanced phone call will be billed in full, and is your responsibility.

How do I know if my child needs therapy?
If you have concerns about your child, and would like a professional opinion, therapists at Butterfly will perform an initial standardized assessment which will help you to determine whether there is a need for therapy.  Assessment results will be discussed, and a treatment plan that best meets the needs of the child and family can be implemented.

Do you offer Cuevas Medek Exercises (CME)?
Yes. Michelle Hand and Keiri Porter are both CME certified and have trained under Ramon Cuevas.

Is there a waitlist?
